How long does oxycodone take to work?

Standard oxycodone takes 30 to 60 minutes to work, but this wears off after 4 to 6 hours. Slow-release oxycodone can take 1 to 2 days to work fully, but the pain relief will last longer. Are there any long-term side effects?
